Volunteers are the life-blood of any non-profit organization and ours is no exception. We've set out on an exciting adventure, into uncharted waters, as we attempt to create the city's first permaculture public park! This project is HUGE and has many components, all of which depend on local volunteers like you!
At GROW, we have divided our volunteer needs into categories which we call project teams. You are welcome to participate in events for several different teams but we also encourage volunteers to commit to one specific team, so that they can become true specialists in this area of our mission. We invite you to check them out!
GARDEN
At GROW we view the garden as a tool we can utilize to teach others how to grow food for themselves, as well as a platform for helping students understand a wide range of science concepts.
Educators
From teaching a school group about native bees, to hosting an urban wildlife encounter, it takes volunteers with a passion for sharing knowledge to accomplish our goals.
ORCHARd
GROW currently has the beginnings of what will someday be an expansive public orchard containing more than a hundred fruit and nut trees plus additional flora that will specifically benefit native pollinators.
NATURAL PLAYGROUND
One key component of our project site is the natural playground, where we seek to provide a space for children to learn about nature through creative play. This unstructured time is where the wonder of childhood can really be found.
FOREST
A portion of the site we care for includes two separate forest areas, which we call the upper and lower forests. They require restoration, protection, and cleanup.
GROW GOAT Guardians
Through the years we’ve learned it’s important to use the gifts mother nature has endowed us, so it’s time we utilize our #GROWgoats! They’ll help us manage invasive non-native plants and maintain grassy areas, while also providing wonderful teaching opportunities for all!

APiary
At GROW’s first project site we worked with our friends at the UT Extension to create a space where we could relate the story of native bees to the public and raise awareness of their plight. We want to do the same at our Two Rivers site, but we need your help to make our dreams a reality.
